As I return to school for my B.Sc in Psychology, I can't help but think about the various characters from the TV series Community who have inspired me throughout my journey. While Jeff and Abed are often the most talked-about characters, one character who has made a significant impact on me spiritually is Shirley.
Shirley is a mother of three who goes back to school to pursue her dream of starting her own business. Despite facing various challenges, including a cheating ex-husband and juggling her studies with her family responsibilities, Shirley never gives up. Her tenacity and resilience are incredibly inspiring, and I find myself drawing on her strength as I navigate my own challenges.
Shirley also represents the importance of community and the role we all play in supporting each other. As a minister, I know how essential it is to have a support system, and Shirley's example reminds me to be there for my own community as they pursue their goals.
Overall, Shirley's character embodies the idea of pursuing your dreams and never giving up, even in the face of adversity. Her spiritual impact on me is immeasurable, and I am grateful for the inspiration she provides as I continue on my own path.
